In the first half of 2024, the two-year-long reconstruction of one of the most important buildings of Czech architecture of the 1970s in the centre of Prague was completed. The functionalist OD Máj set itself the ambitious goal of combining shops, restaurants, an entertainment centre and a rooftop observation deck on an area of 17,000 m². The generous project of the nine-storey building cost €180 million.
The project for Halla as a luminaire manufacturer began with a tender for the supply of the main lighting of the arcade, on the ground floor of the building. We developed atypical linear luminaires in RGBW and these were accepted by the investor during the sampling process without any comments. Following the delivery of this first phase, we were involved in the other floors of the building. Thus, the premises are illuminated by 15 types of luminaires in a total number of more than 5000 pieces. The Lina60 and Lina80 linear luminaires, the Lina60-T and Vali80-T track luminaires, and the Vali80 pendant luminaire in the staircase areas have all been used. In the foodcourt, our Rundo62 and Vali80-T are complementing the distinctive arrangement of glass chandeliers, while the Vali80-T shines on the third and fourth „House of fun“ floors, together with the attractive, tailor-made hexagons. The fifth floor is illuminated by dozens of different diameter Rotao60 and Rundo87 luminaires.
It is worth mentioning the rooftop view of the city, which captivates not only tourists. A visit to this place is therefore highly recommended not only for the experience of our luminaires.
